What is on the inside?

For the past few days, I’ve been thinking about Stacy Julian’s “What’s in your purse?” challenge. This is one of those experiments that can edge on uncomfortable while bringing light to exciting new truths. It is a complete understatement to say you can learn deeply about a person by what’s in her purse. I believe it is a window to the soul (or at least something close!)

Since I’m participating in a Week in the Life this week (leaving less time for thoughtful blogging), I thought it might be fun to play along with you. Without further ado, here’s the inside & outside of me (but which is which?):

In brief, I am a living yin & yang symbol, a collection of opposites.

I fancy myself an artsy, free-spirited earth mama while my inner neurotic demands that everything be organized and under control. I breath through color and find joy in getting dirty but my mulch does not escape the beds nor do my electronics run amok.

As we celebrate the art and practice of memory keeping, keep in mind the untold stories your photos share. What will our photos and other items we leave behind say to the next generation? What does my purse say about me? What does yours say about you?

maybe the real goal (perhaps unattainable) is reconciling the free-spirited earth mama with the inner neurotic. I have to say that I feel like I’ve found that balance in my life. Jenn would probably disagree!

Now just how to scrap it….

I’m not sure its reconciliation (because I’m not convinced that is possible) as much as it is acceptance and nurturing of me just who I am… that I don’t have to be one or the other.

This truth is the reason why I can leave dirty dishes in the sink for 2 days and then gasp in horror as to why anyone could leave a crumb on the counter!

I have certainly found more balance between these sides to me as I’ve gotten older (and expect that is the norm), but I think it still confuses my husband.

Maybe it has to do with our priorities…which change for me with any given moment. 🙂
And please tell me where you got those awfully cute blocks that keep your mulch where it should be!!!!!

Those blocks came with the house – so I don’t know. Sorry!
