Create Page Titles Easily with Cut Files | Simple Scrapbook Idea

Maybe you’re like me. You got a Silhouette for Christmas, cut a few items, and then promptly returned to your old scrapbooking processes.

It can be a challenge to integrate a new tool into your workflow. In this post I’m sharing one simple way to use cut files that doesn’t require a lot of extra thought: scrapbook page titles.

In the layout above, a sneak peek from our August membership collection, I cut my title into the foundation card stock and then backed it with patterned paper. The effect is dramatic and eye-catching, but using cut files for page titles doesn’t always require advance planning.

The layouts above and below have similar titles, both cut from kraft card stock. In fact, I cut them from the same sheet. Piecing a title from individual letters is a little more difficult but it helped to save the original card stock to offer an idea of placement and proximity.

  1. So far my Silhouette has been either cleared because I cleaned the scraproom or buried in the hot spot on my desk (same physical location.) But one of my main INTENDED uses is to cut the various pieces for cards – the backing for stamps, strips of decorative paper, etc. It seems that when I try to cut a 4.5 x 6 piece of paper I don’t get the corners perfectly square. So, when I finally get thing set up and start using it, I will cut specific size pieces for my cards – and I’ve got A LOT of cards to make. Like my FlipPal, I won my Silhouette.

    1. Francine, I don’t make cards but I believe most people use half an 8.5×11 sheet, so the finished dimensions are 4.25×5.5.

  2. I’m an ex silhouette hider. But no more. I’ve finally set up my scrap area so that it has its own cupboard top close to my desk so that I can simply hook my laptop up to it. I adore the print and cut feature too. When ever I get a new digital kit I make a new page with all the embellishments and word art so that when I actually want to use the kit I simply open print and cut.
