Scrap your delicious memories

There may come a time when you’ve run out of family photos to scrap (gasp!). Or perhaps you’re looking for a special project, maybe even a gift album. Regardless if you’re on the lookout for new ideas or simply devoted to digital scrapbooking, this is an idea everyone should explore.

Personal recipe albums are often full of handwritten and tattered 3×5 cards and perhaps a mismatch of recipes torn from magazines. While there is a certain charm and nostalgia to this personal touch, we digi gals know a few secrets that can take these special memories to a new level. Enter recipe scrapping.

Dress up those plain lined cards with the same papers, embellishment and design skills you use with your normal layouts. Recipe scrapping is particularly fun if you’re been itching to try your hand at 8.5×11 pages or even 4×6 brag books. It is also a perfect entry into hybrid scrapping.

A few tips:

  • Don’t feel you have to use food-related kits
  • Choose tried and true recipes
  • Complement your recipe with a photo

Do you scrap recipes? Is this something you would like to try?

  1. What a timely post! I am gathering stuff to work on a recipe book during a retreat weekend in a few weeks. Why should I have an ugly, tattered, re-purposed, disorganized binder when I am a digi-scrapper? I’ll post some of the layouts on my blog at the end of April. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. DeAnna – here is the recipe taken from the layout:

      – 3 Cups chicken stock
      – 2 cups chopped carrots
      – 2 cups chopped celery
      – 3/4 cup chopped onion
      – 2 cans cream of chicken soup
      – 1/4 cup canned milk (or 1 Cup whole milk)
      – 2 cups diced chicken
      – 4 cups cooked noodles
      – salt and pepper to taste

Directions: Cook vegetables (carrots, celery, and onions). Drain vegetables. Combine vegetables with all remaining ingredients. Heat through and enjoy!
