Quick page trick for overlapping photos

Simple Tip Saturdays are all about giving easy ideas for you to grab and run.

Today I’m excited (and a little nervous) to share my very first video tutorial with you. In it, I demonstrate one easy technique for clipping edges and corners of photos when using a quick page.

Let me know what you think in the comments. I already know that I need to do some cursor highlighting and zooming in, but I’m a total newbie!

Do you want to see more videos? I think this will be a quick and easy way to share simple tips with you, but I’m all ears!

  1. Very nice, I have always avoided quick pages because of the clipping that had to be done. I’m going to try it now.

  2. Great job!! I love it and had not thought to do it that way. Thanks for the tip. I will definately try it that way next time I have this situation.

  3. I’ll be trying this out tonight! I’ve been using the eraser tool but that doesn’t give the nice clean cut that your method does. Thanks and keep the videos coming!

  4. Thank you so much! Your video was very helpful 🙂
Additional feedback: I don’t know if it was my computer or the video, but even when I had the volume on “high” I had a hard time hearing what you were saying (I *could* hear it, but in a really quiet moment with nothing else going on over here).

  5. Great job, Jennifer! Wonderful tip I’ll be sure to use in the future. I’m a visual person and love seeing something done, too.

Also, I had to keep turning up my speakers, too. Though I thought it was because of the volume of my husband’s stereo (LOL)!

  6. First of all, I love your layout! It’s gorgeous.
Secondly, you did a great job with the tutorial! Thanks for sharing your tips. I love this site!

  7. Thanks so much. New to digi so video tutorials are VERY helpful. Feedback: I know for those who have been doing digi a while a lot of the steps are habit but us newbies, at least me, I need reminded of every step. Like, how did you make a copy of the photo? How did you make the new layer? I am still learning and soaking it all in and I understand if you can’t take the time to say every step. I know someday it will be a no brainer for me on some steps. Thanks again. I look forward to learning more from you!

  8. Thanks for the video tutorial. Like Tamara and others, I found the volume to be very low and had problems hearing you. (I had every volume setting turned up to max on my computer: YouTube, control panel and the laptop itself.)
I also had problems seeing the controls that you chose: I noticed on some other software tutorials, there was a zoom-in superimposed on the video so that you could read the exact menu item selected. Naturally, I have no idea how it was done…:)

    1. I will definitely investigate the volume issue and am already planning to learn how to do the zoom in. This was my very first try!

  9. Hi Jennifer, I watched your QP tutorial. The problem was I could not hear you very well, I had my volume on high and your volume on high. Yes, more video tutorials on Quick Pages would be most helpful and I would watch them. Just need to hear you better. Thank you.

  10. Awesome job on your 1st video! Thanks for taking the time to learn to do this and share it with us. I happened to listen in the wee morning hours before kids were up, so I could hear it fine :). I’m also fairly new to digiscrapping and I was able to follow along pretty well. Had to look up a couple of things you referred to, but I learned more doing that, so I’m not complaining.
    I give you an A+!
